Light House Inn, Charm on so many levels
Finding a sea food restaurant in Southern Maryland is easy. Finding a good one is not difficult either.
Finding one that brings so much more than just a good meal to the table is much more difficult.
The Light House Inn on Solomon's Island is so much more. As soon as you pull into the parking lot
directly off of Solomon's Island Road, you get the sense you're in for a treat.
Just to begin with, you have so many seating choices and all of them have a beautiful view of the water.
A one third scale skipjack was built by a local craftsman to serve as the bar and its charm fills the whole
restaurant. Other seating includes a wood rich dinning room on the main floor with a glass filled wall that
views the marina; a loft dinning room, perfect for private parties; or a beautiful summer day nothing beats
"The Quarter Deck" outside.
Whether you are hungry for beef, pasta, chicken, salads of all kinds; they can more than accommodate you.
But let's not forget about the seafood, it's one of many great reasons to be there in the first place.
Shrimp scampi, soft shell crab, seafood Naples, lobster, crab cakes and a Mariners platter for those who
can't decide. Believe me when I tell you it is a hard decision.
Their international wine list carries some of the finest choices one can make on this or any other
continent. Whether you require a French Champagne, an Australian white, Chilean red or many of America's
finest wines, their cellar has it. And at the end of the night they have a wide variety of coffees and
aperitifs to choose from. Definitely do not leave with out having had one of their delightful wait staff
show you that there is more than one way to pour a cup of coffee.
The readers of the Calvert Recorder have voted it best restaurant as well as tops in six other categories.
Rightfully so, and you'll agree from the beginning to the end, it is a dinning experience you will want to
repeat again and again. Maybe I'll see you there.
